Presentation
As part of this year's Printemps du Dessin, Amiens Cathedral is inviting multimedia video artist Éléonore Geissler to take part in a series of original drawing workshops!
At the heart of a monument full of stories, the artist invites you to reinterpret this medieval landmark by creating a collaborative storyboard like an exquisite corpse. Using a pack of cards specially designed for the occasion and inspired byelements of the cathedral'sdécor, bestiary and legends, participants will illustrate scenes and reinvent the history of the site.
Combining drawing and writing, the collaborative workshop invites participants to reveal the artistic potential of their imagination in an out-of-time atmosphere.
Who is Eléonore Geissler?
Born in 1992 in Paris, where she lives and works, Éléonore Geissler is a multimedia video artist who graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris and the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris with honours in 2018.
Her work is based on drawing, the black humour of which she uses as a research canvas for her videos. Oscillating between installation and film format, her work evokes the idea of films in volume, mixing various live-action and animation techniques, where everything seems to be allowed to deceive the viewer's eye, through a wide spectrum of special effects often made by hand.
Her first animated short, Alien TV, nominated for the Prix Émile Reynaud (2019), was shown at numerous international festivals. She then took part for two consecutive years in the official programme of the Nuit blanche in Paris, with the short film Marcher avec les dragons (2020), before winning the call for projects from the Centre national d'études spatiales with Présences circulaires (2021), which has joined the permanent collections of the CNES at the Musée des Abattoirs.
She is currently in residence at Le Fresnoy, Studio national des arts contemporains.
