A stop in Amiens for the flame

The streets of Amiens are getting ready to welcome an event steeped in symbolism: the passage of the Olympic Flame on Thursday 4 July 2024 and the Paralympic Flame on Monday 26 August 2024.

The majestic cathedral of Amiens, a French heritage site that is part of the extensive network of National Monuments Centres (CMN), will be one of the focal points for the celebrations of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The flame lights up France's heritage

Paris 2024 has unveiled the sites hosting the Torch Relay, offering a unique opportunity to highlight France's cultural wealth through its emblematic monuments. The route will pass through towns and historic sites, allowing spectators to discover the country's architectural treasures.

Amiens Cathedral, a true jewel of Gothic architecture, is ready to welcome the passing of the flame, a universal symbol of peace and unity. This is an opportunity for the people of Amiens and visitors from all over the world to celebrate the Olympic and Paralympic spirit together, in the majestic setting of this monument steeped in history.

As a reminder, the flame's journey will begin on 16 April 2024 in Olympia, Greece, the birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games. After a 12-day journey and a Mediterranean crossing aboard the famous three-masted ship, the Belem, it will cross French borders on 8 May 2024.
